Award Winning Author and Barnard Graduate Kyle Lukoff Fights Bookbanning

Lukoff speaks to his own experience with bookbanning and the joys of diverse representation in children’s literature.

“Every time I find out that one of my books is being banned somewhere, I am almost always put in touch with queer and trans people and our allies, who are doing work in those communities. There is a lot of hope, and that is really the only way forward.”

Lukoff’s debut middle-grade novel, Too Bright to See, received the 2022 Newberry Honor, the 2022 Stonewall Book Award, and was a National Book Award Finalist.
